This paper explores the integration of error detection and correction mechanisms in a multilayer communication network to reveal the benefits of transmitting warnings about potential bit errors. We introduce a novel decoding technique for Hamming codes, termed the codebook method, which utilizes information from other layers to enhance decoding accuracy and minimize False Positive (FP). However, the effectiveness of this method relies upon the quality of the detector. Additionally, we investigate the potential of a hybrid approach by integrating the Hamming decoder with the codebook method, which shows promising results in reducing FP but may compromise performance in terms of False Negative (FN), particularly in safety-critical systems.
