Using Hyperlink-Induced Topic Search Algorithm to Optimize Content Placement in Multimedia Content Delivery Network

In the content delivery network (CDN) architecture, a large amount of multimedia is transmitted on the network, so the placement of CDN content will affect the network performance. How to place the content or find an appropriate location to add new content is a challenge in the CDN. In this paper, we use the hyperlink-induced topic search (HITS) algorithm to solve the problem of content placement. In the HITS algorithm, each domain of the CDN has two values: Authority and Hub. A domain with a higher authority value means that more traffic flows through this domain; a domain with a higher hub value means that more requests come from this domain. We use these two values to find the appropriate location for content placement. The experimental results show that the HITS algorithm has a shorter response time than other methods.
