Years ago, part of my job involved driving across the county and delivering speech and language workshops to early years practitioners (EYPs). At the end of each series, I would always deliver a workshop called ‘Working With Parents’. It made sense to me at the time: focus on the child first, do some things to help them, then share that with carers so they can apply the same strategies at home. But, with this format, there&s;s a risk of suggesting that some of us are the experts with all the answers, when, in reality, we have a lot to learn from each other.
