The feasibility of in situ TEM observation of ceramic sintering could be successfully shown.Due to the absence of carbon nanofibers for all sintering conditions mechanical reinforcement of the ceramic on the nanoscale can likely be ruled out.Due to the difficulty of unanbigously identifying specimen areas that originated from plant fibers the identification of the strengthening mechanism is the subject of ongoing investigation.
