Abstract Aiming at the problem of error in RS decoding judgment, in this paper, when constructing LDPC-RS product code, LDPC code is used as the outer code, RS code is used as the inner code, and CRC encoding is applied to RS code to improve the probability of decoding correct judgment of RS code during error correction. This paper also proposes a set of low-complexity iterative decoding schemes, which aims to improve the decoding efficiency of product codes. During the decoding process, the decoding results are verified by means of the checksum of the joint RS code and CRC at the time of decoding, and the correct code words in the previous iteration are corrected by the soft value. Simulation data show that the LDPC-RS product code effectively improves its performance, and for the product code composed of the combination of LDPC (576, 288) and RS (255, 241), when the signal-to-noise ratio Eb/N0 is 2.4 dB, its bit error rate is reduced by two orders of magnitude compared with the case without joint iterative optimization.
