Concept and Signs of Artificial Intelligence

Russian and foreign legislation lack a common understanding of both the essence of artificial intelligence and a unified approach to the legal definition of the concept of AI. Purpose. Analyze existing definitions of artificial intelligence, highlight the characteristics of artificial intelligence as a legal category. Formulate a definition. Methodology. The general principles of scientific knowledge (comprehensiveness, systematicity, objectivity), the general philosophical method (dialectical), general scientific methods of knowledge (comparison, ascent from the abstract to the particular), general logical methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization, classification, abstraction), special legal methods (formal legal, method of interpretation of legal norms, dogmatic). Results. Various aspects of understanding AI, differences and contradictions between them are analyzed. Signs of AI that have legal significance are identified. The author's definition of AI is formulated. Conclusion. AI is a new, complex phenomenon that requires a comprehensive study, which determines the need to develop a unified, legal definition of the concept of AI.
