How to Implement Usability Engineering
Michael Wiklund · 2024
The practice of usability engineering (or human factors engineering), which has been well established for about 40 years, seems to get "rediscovered" whenever an industry makes the transition from fundamentally electromechanical devices to those incorporating microprocessors in their designs. At the transition point, advances in microprocessor technology enable designers to extend the number and scope of device functions, resulting in more-complex products and a greater potential for usability problems and user complaints.
