Prototyping the User Interface
Michael Wiklund · 2024
How would you improve the design of a product if you had to do it over again? We frequently ask this question of ourselves and others about a completed product, particularly its user interface. In fact, shortcomings with the user interface—that is, those portions of a product with which people interact, such as controls and displays—may seem obvious once the finished product has actually been used. Shortcomings are less obvious when a design exists only on paper or as a working model that lacks the final product&s;s appearance and interactive characteristics. Designers of user interfaces thus often end up with a wish list of design changes they would like to have made.
