Research on Network Card Virtualization Technology Based on SR-IOV

To address the high overhead and low efficiency issues of software-simulated 1/0 virtualization, this paper designs a hardware architecture for a network card virtualization module based on SR-IOV technology and extends the VF driver at the software layer for data packet reception. The virtualization module determines the RX queue of the data frame based on its MAC address and VLAN tag information. In the VF driver, a polling thread pool and thread scheduling module are added to fully utilize the multi-core CPU resources. Experimental results show that this combination achieves high data transmission performance, allowing a single port to provide dedicated data reception paths for multiple virtual machines.
