A Practical Method for Building Dynamic Security Region Based on Extended Phase Trajectory

Yuan Zeng, Haosen Cao, Yuzhuo Hu · 2024

Extended phase trajectory theory is an important tool for judging the transient stability of the system based on response information. However, this theory is only applicable to the single-pendulum unstable system, and does not have the ability to accurately quantify the stability margin, so it is difficult to achieve reliable evaluation and control. Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamic security region (DSR) construction model based on extended phase trajectory theory. Firstly, the extended phase trajectory stability criterion is modified and its application range is extended. Secondly, for single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system, the linear fitting effect of criterion sensitivity and node injection power is demonstrated, and it is applied to the multi-machine system. In addition, the effective mapping between the criterion and the DSR is realized, and the dynamic security boundary characterization model of the leading unstable unit is proposed. Finally, numerical simulations conducted on IEEE39 bus system show that the proposed method has high predictability and accuracy.
