Using Mobile Applications for Patient Monitoring in Smart Medical Wards

Dmitriy Konstantinovich Levonevskiy, Anna Igorevna Motienko · 2024

Treatment of patients in medical institutions requires their constant and real time monitoring for assessment of their health conditions. At the same time, routine operations are often delayed, missed, performed with mistakes, which in turn affects the quality of treatment. Innovations in the field of infocommunication technologies and cyberphysical systems allow the healthcare industry to enhance the provided medical services. One of the promising areas here is the creation of smart wards so that the patient information will be easily accessible and provided in real time to medical staff. Assessing health and diagnosing diseases require following certain data collection and processing techniques that can be implemented by the smart ward modules and medical devices. These techniques are supported by a variety of modules, but their implementation in smart wards faces integration challenges. This paper proposes the architecture for patient monitoring by means of a special mobile application connected to the server. Within this architecture, information and physical components functioning in different contours share the functionality of data collection, analysis and visualization. This allows simplifying and speeding up health assessment, provides the necessary software flexibility and reusability for smart wards.
