In contemporary research, there is an increasing focus on enhancing current approaches to information security and innovating new methods. A pressing issue is the development of alternative methods to create effective and robust cryptographic systems. The authors of this article have utilized finite automata as an alternative research model. Their analysis reveals a growing interest in the application of finite automata in cryptography. Various open-source materials on cryptosystems based on finite automata were studied, leading to the consideration of a new concept termed finite automata cryptography. This concept represents a fusion of cryptography and automata theory. The paper explores the process of constructing an ontological model for the theory of finite automata cryptosystems. Employing ontology aids in standardizing terminology and formalizing knowledge within this domain. To organize knowledge about cryptosystems that utilize the concepts of finite automata theory, the decision was made to adopt an ontology-based approach. This promotes uniformity in the understanding of concepts and methods among researchers and practitioners. The proposed ontology can be employed for training and knowledge sharing in the field of finite automata cryptography, thereby facilitating the transfer of experience and knowledge between professionals, students, and other interested parties.
