IoT is revolutionizing digitization, transforming the way we interact with our environment, manage resources, and access information. Today, the Internet of Things has grown so broad that the development of its security should also be taken into concern along with it. As the use of IoT technologies surges across different sectors, a vast number of devices become internet-connected. This interconnectedness, however, creates a growing vulnerability. Malicious actors can exploit these weaknesses, posing a significant threat to our technology. So, the security of these IoT devices becomes very important. In this study, we propose a framework to provide security to IoT networks. To ensure that an IoT network is free from attacks, continuous monitoring of the network is required. This can be achieved using Software Defined Networking (SDN).Using Mininet, an open-source network emulator, we implement a SDN prototype to emulate an IoT network. By applying threat modelling, all possible threats in the network are identified.
