In this paper, a high efficiency power amplifier (PA) featuring integrated filtering capabilities is introduced. The proposed filtering mechanism combines a coupled-lines approach with a transmission-line stepped impedance open-stub (TSIOS) configuration, resulting in a wide passband response. To exemplify this approach, a broadband filtering PA prototype is developed using the Cree 10W GaN HEMT. Operating within the bandwidth of 2.0-4.0 GHz, the filtering PA demonstrates a drain efficiency of 50-71.5%, while achieving output power levels between 39–42 dBm at saturation.
