Named Data Networking (NDN) employs caching techniques to streamline data management among network nodes. This study utilizes the Icarus Simulator to analyze mechanisms for allocating cache sizes within NDN. Through our assessment, we unveil the pivotal role of cache size allocation in augmenting NDN caching efficiency. Larger cache sizes significantly impact metrics such as cache hit ratio, latency, link load, and path stretch, thereby enhancing overall performance. Furthermore, our findings underscore the necessity of finely tuning cache size allocation to bolster network efficacy within NDNs. Additionally, our investigation elucidates the interaction between cache size, alpha values, and cache placement strategies, shedding light on their influence on latency, link load, and path stretch. By elucidating these dynamics, we provide insights into optimizing network performance through strategic cache size allocation, facilitating improved data delivery and user experience in NDN environments.
