Enhancing Wireless Connectivity in Underground Mines Through CSI Analysis
Ali Khalaf, Nahi Kandil, Nadir Hakem · 2024
This study undertakes a detailed examination of Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI) within an underground gold mine, focusing on Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) conditions. It scrutinizes key metrics including amplitude, phase information, cumulative power loss in the channel (as indicated by squared amplitude sums), Root Mean Square (RMS) delay spread, and mean excess delay. The research delineates the contrasting signal behaviors in LOS versus NLOS scenarios, illuminating the intricacies of wireless signal propagation in subterranean environments. These insights are crucial for refining wireless network models, thereby enhancing the precision, reliability, and efficiency of Wi-Fi communication in specialized settings such as underground mines.
