Subhash Chand Agrawal, Rajesh Kumar Tripathi · 2024
The management of attendance is a crucial component of education, and manual attendance tracking using old methods has various drawbacks. In order to track students’ attendance in the classroom, biometric attendance systems have become a reliable and efficient substitute for conventional attendance management methods. Biometric attendance systems track attendance by using a person’s distinct physical traits, including their fingerprints, iris, or facial recognition. The purpose of this investigation study is to give a thorough review of biometric attendance systems and how well they work to regulate students’ attendance in classes. The traditional attendance management system and its shortcomings are briefly reviewed at the outset of the study. The fundamentals of biometric authentication are then covered, along with the many kinds of biometric systems that are frequently employed in attendance control. The study also discusses the benefits and drawbacks of biometric attendance systems, including issues with accuracy, dependability, security, and privacy. In the context of student tracking of attendance, the paper examines the ethical and legal issues surrounding the use of biometric data for attendance management.
