High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) is attracting significant attention as a new mobile communication platform for ultra-wide coverage area and disaster-resilient networks, because it can provide communication services from altitudes of around 20 km from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) such as balloons, airships, or other aircraft. In developing a propagation model for HAPS that covers a wide area, it is important to analyze the propagation path due to the terrain. In this paper, we measured and analyzed the arrival angle of radio waves when the mobile station is located in a mountainous area in a high-altitude base station environment.
