The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has revolutionized the manufacturing industry, making it more efficient, productive, and cost-effective. However, the increased popularity of IIoT has led to increased security concerns, making secure IIoT systems more critical than ever before. This chapter examines the various security challenges that IIoT systems face, such as cyber-attacks, data breaches, device vulnerabilities, and insider threats. It also discusses various cybersecurity-related techniques that can mitigate these challenges, such as security, privacy, confidentiality, blockchain, and machine learning. Furthermore, this chapter shows that blockchain and machine learning are critical in enhancing the security of IIoT. They augment other existing techniques, such as privacy techniques. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the importance of IIoT security and the need for effective security mechanisms to protect IIoT systems against various threats that are becoming rampant as technology development increases.
