The Basics of Generative AI

Although artificial intelligence (AI) has been around for a long time, it is not until now that it has exploded in terms of use and curiosity, and even in the development of new products. One part of AI that has really mushroomed is that of Generative AI. But what makes this so different from other aspects of AI is that it can be used to create the answer to a very specific query that has been submitted to it. Not only can it compute the outputs based on the data that it has been trained upon, but it can also look up other sources of information, in order to make the output as legitimate and accurate as possible. Also, the outputs can come in a variety of formats, such as text, audio, images, and even video. In this chapter, we cover some of these basics and more as it relates to Generative AI.
