Visualization Challenges for Higher-Order Solutions and Grids: Panel Summary From AIAA SciTech Forum 2024
Yves-Marie Lefebvre · 2024
During the 2024 AIAA SciTech Forum, the meshing, visualization and computational environments technical committee (MVCE) hosted a panel discussion that addressed the visualization challenges for high-order solutions and grids. The panel consisted of representatives from academia, national research organizations and commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software. Visualization of high-order solutions and grids is a challenge for the community that will increase as high-order methods become more popular and as the complexity of the methods continues to increase. This paper summarizes the panel discussion. The panel summarized which visualization capabilities they consider to be needed during the pre-processing and post-processing phases, for high-order methods to be more widely adopted. Panelists explained why these methods represent unique challenges for high-order methods. They provided a brief overview of technical solutions explored to date and how successful they’ve been at addressing these challenges. Perspectives and ideas for future developments have then been discussed with the audience.
