File I/O and OS Operations

Readers can perform standard input and output (I/O) operations on a file using the io/ioutil package in Go. This package provides routines to perform standard I/O operations such as reading and writing to files. Readers can use the panic function to signal an error or an unexpected behavior in the program. The function panic is mostly used to signal to the program to fail when there are errors that readers aren't sure how to handle. Go gives readers options for retrieving only parts of a file. In modern computer systems, each string character is represented by a byte. Readers can use this unit to retrieve sets of characters from a text file. A defer statement postpones the execution of a function until the surrounding function returns, either normally or through panic. In addition to creating files, the os package allows readers to work with directories.
