Working with MySQL Server
Haythem Balti, Kim Weiss · 2023
This chapter helps the reader to install the MySQL database server and client and install the MySQL Workbench database management application. It uses a command-line interface to connect to MySQL Server and uses the Schemas panel to view database details. The chapter identifies the main MySQL Workbench interface elements. It also helps the reader to create a database from a SQL script and execute a SELECT query. The MySQL data server is configured to start when our computer boots up and always runs in the background. The Notifier installs a system tray icon that shows the status of existing MySQL database servers and allows us to start and stop them. We can use a command-line interface to verify that MySQL is installed and that we can connect to it.
