Software Productivity Research on Software Cost Estimation Using Quantile-based Scale Measure

Analyzing software productivity has been one of the main goals of software engineering research since its beginnings, especially in the software cost estimation field. Many studies have been conducted on various factors that resulted in several models for analysis and prediction of productivity. However, productivity is still an issue in software development and cost estimation. This paper presents a software productivity analysis method, introduces how to build the related metric elements, and illustrates the results through our analysis using a quantile-based scale measure (QSC). The results can guide further study and as the basis for building productivity models and software cost estimation.
