Database Management Using DDL
Haythem Balti, Kim Weiss · 2023
This chapter looks closely at data management language and create a database based on a defined ERD. It generates a list of available databases in an RDBMS. The chapter describes available data types and apply them to fields in a table. It helps the reader to generate a list of available databases in an RDBMS, a list of tables in the selected database and a script that can be used to rebuild/copy a database structure. The chapter uses foreign keys to define relationships between tables. It identifies and compares options for deleting or updating values in primary key fields. A signed value allows negative and positive values while an unsigned value allows only positive values. Numeric data types are generally broken down between integer types, which are whole numbers, and decimal types, which can have a fractional or decimal value.
