Globalization of the internet creates tons of diverse information every second through online blogs, social media, news websites, novels, medical data, and financial data. Automatic Text summarization (ATS) generates the summarized version of a longer text. Most of the users lack time to read the complete and longer information. It can be achieved with the help of extractive, abstractive & hybrid with or without artificial intelligence. This paper presents a comparison of several ATS techniques on the basis of different categories, their applications, a comprehensive literature review and upcoming challenges in this field. It also includes the significance of Deep Learning (DL) & Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the domain of Natural Language Processing (NLP) with its applications & challenges
