A Screen-Shooting Resilient Video Watermarking Algorithm Utilizing Information Membrane Overlay

Jiameng Wang, Xiang Li, Xiaolong Li, Yao Zhao · 2024

In video copyright protection, the prevention of unauthorized copying and infringement has become challenging, especially in scenarios involving reshooting. In this paper, a novel real-time video watermarking is proposed to resist screen-shooting attacks, which is agnostic to the host video demonstrating universality. In the proposed method, a template video called information membrane is adopted to enhance the privacy of the host video. The key to the embedding process is the generation of the information membrane, incorporating the watermark to be embedded, which is then overlaid onto the host video. Next, in the extraction process, the average and difference of chromatic values are calculated within frame groups, which remains stable before and after attacks, ensuring the effectiveness of the extraction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm exhibits strong robustness against screen-shooting attacks while maintaining visual quality.
