Highway hypnosis is a phenomenon where a driver can become inattentive and experience a decrease in awareness while driving on long, monotonous stretches of road. In this paper, we propose a Highway Hypnosis Detection and Prevention System (HHDPS) using computer vision techniques. The goal of the system is to identify highway hypnosis symptoms in real time and alert the driver in order to prevent possible accidents. In this work, we present the system model, the model used for detection (Dlib library), and experimental results, and conclude with insights on its effectiveness.
