Much of China's water knowledge administration is based on a centralized approach, which has drawbacks, including inefficiency, costly expenses, and data storage security issues. An effective communication system among all the links in the chain of water resource utilization can be created using blockchain technology. It ensures data security by preventing the unexpected breakdown of important organizations brought on by routine system operations. Our proposed decentralized water resource information management system enhances the conventional water data storage method and is based on a decentralization blockchain. It covers the entire “supply–use–consumption–discharge” cycle. Blockchain technology encrypts data sent over a peer-to-peer network, including monitoring and company records. Also, some management responsibilities are shared throughout the nodes instead of having everything done by the central office. This allows rapid problem detection, decision making, and action taking to enhance information transfer and leadership efficiency. Two examples of everyday use cases for blockchain technology in water resource management are also included. With a blockchain-based system, it is easier to issue and track water abstraction permits, and data obtained from licenses are more secure and more accessible to verify. The water safety of the citizens may be guaranteed with a dependable system for tracking water quality, which ensures accurate and trustworthy data, identifies areas with poor water quality, and defines individual responsibilities.
