Human-Computer Interaction and Explainable Artificial Intelligence: For the Effective Use of Technology

Arun Viswanathan, Amit Kumar Tyagi · River Publishers eBooks · 2024

Human-computer interaction (HCI) is research into how humans and computers interact and communicate with each other. It focuses on how people use computers as well as how computers use people. A group of people who study how humans interact with computers is called HCI. They look at how humans interact with computers and come up with new technologies that let people do so in new ways. In the beginning, HCI focused on computers, but now it is a broad field that deals with many different types of information technology design. As computer technology moves toward making products available to everyone in the world, the need for efficient interaction between humans and computer devices for people who are less skilled grows more important. From the start, HCI would grow to include a lot of different fields, like computer science, cognitive science, and human-factors engineering. In today’s world, many people question and debate whether or not humans should physically do simple tasks. Every part of our world is becoming more and more automated and mechanized. An intelligent person must give this automation a sense of direction. We need a well-researched view of human-computer interaction to be able to seamlessly translate our views and instructions into machine input. This chapter talks about the concept of human-computer interaction (HCI) and its branches, like user interface design and user experience design, which are looked at in depth. A needful goal for research and developing human-computer interaction system is to make system human-human intractable and intelligent. Much of this chapter also talks about what is going on with the subject now and how it works in different fields like artificial intelligence, home automation, information technology, and so on. To learn more about how human-computer interaction system are being used in Industry 4.0 and how it is different from other types of interaction systems, such information will be discussed in this chapter.
