Evaluating Healthcare Benefits of Senior Citizens through Opinion Mining

The aging population worldwide presents significant challenges for healthcare systems, demanding effective strategies to meet the unique needs of older adults. This study focuses on assessing healthcare administration for seniors in Butuan City, Philippines, amidst a projected rise in aging by 2045. Employing NLP techniques, specifically sentiment analysis using VADER, and the study explores senior citizens’ satisfaction with government-provided healthcare benefits. Results indicate that most seniors expressed satisfaction with healthcare benefits, highlighting commendable aspects of the healthcare system. However, negative sentiments identified areas for improvement, such as long waiting times and accessibility issues. The study underscores the importance of understanding seniors’ experiences to enhance healthcare delivery and promote healthy aging. These findings contribute valuable insights for policymakers and healthcare administrators, guiding efforts to prioritize and optimize healthcare services for senior citizens in Butuan City. Effective healthcare initiatives can positively influence senior well-being, aligning with efforts to achieve universal health coverage and address the evolving needs of an aging population.
