We focus on the lightweight caching strategy design for Information-Centric Networking. In our proposed caching decision scheme, the appropriate location for content placement is selected during the request packet forwarding process, and the location of the request hit is responsible for making caching decisions. Based on this scheme, we propose a Caching-Resource-Utilization-Based Strategy (CRUS), which selects the caching router with the lowest caching resource utilization for content placement. To avoid cache redundancy and frequent cache replacements, CRUS caches contents with a reasonable probability. The experiment results reveal that CRUS can improve the cache hit ratio and reduce the network latency, while consuming a short runtime with few memory resources.
