Designing intelligent systems capable of managing complicated and ambiguous information is the focus of a computer science and artificial intelligence field known as “soft computing.” It offers a paradigm for addressing issues like approximation, partial truth, uncertainty, and imprecision; all of which are prevalent in real-world issues. Soft computing methods take inspiration from human-like thinking and decision-making processes, in contrast to traditional computer methods that rely on exact and predictable algorithms. When working with inadequate or noisy data, or when it is challenging to represent the issue using conventional mathematical models, soft computing approaches are frequently utilized. This chapter presents a review of mathematical foundations of convolutional neural network (CNN) in soft computing.
