Information technology security dangers are increasing due to social engineering attacks that exploit human psychology. Social engineering is a manipulation technique that uses human error. Social Engineering can also be called human intellectual fraud with the subject of science. Phishing attacks using Instagram allow attackers to steal sensitive personal information from unsuspecting users, and using fake websites is a common technique for carrying out large-scale data harvesting attacks. One common social engineering method used to attack information security is phishing, which involves luring victims to share their personal information through fake websites. These attacks often target social media platforms such as Instagram, which can be targeted by large numbers of users. Due to its high popularity and large user base, cybercriminals often target Instagram for social engineering attacks using phishing methods. This research will analyze how Instagram is being misused and turned into an attack platform to obtain sensitive information that can be used to create attack profiles against individuals. Apart from that, this research can also increase awareness among social media users by summarizing how social engineering attacks occur. This research uses 2 stages of research methodology, namely searching for relevant literature regarding social engineering and its techniques, as well as analyzing selected literature to identify social engineering attacks.
