Computational thinking and problem-solving
Owen Dobbing · 2024
This chapter explores how computational thinking, which is mentioned specifically in the national curriculum computing overview, is a crucial part of teaching computing. The chapter explains what computational thinking is, the steps of approaching problems using computational thinking, and gives some practical ways that computational thinking can be used in lessons. The chapter also explores some of the strategies that the teacher can use to teach computational thinking. This includes activities in computing lessons, as well as activities to support lessons. The chapter explores the link between computational thinking and growth mindset, which is also now gaining prevalence in schools.
