An Improved Henon Map Based Encryption Scheme for Secure Image Transmission
Smita Agrawal, B R Madhu · 2024
Image transmission over insecure public communication channels is vulnerable to various security threats. To ensure the confidentiality of the image during transmission, the message can be encrypted, which effectively transforms it into an unrecognizable format. More robust security methods than conventional security methods such as AES and DES are necessary to ensure secure image transmission over public networks due to the exclusive features of image data, such as a high level of redundancy and large size. Therefore, it is essential to explore alternative security methods for image transmission. One practical and efficient method for image encryption is chaotic map-based encryption, which has a distinctive property of high sensitivity to initial conditions. This paper proposes a secure image encryption scheme using the Arnold cat map and an improved version of the classical Hénon map to encrypt the image for a more comprehensive chaotic range. Simulation and theoretical evaluation confirm the efficacy of the proposed encryption scheme, ensuring the image's secrecy during transmission.
