Rescue robots are intelligent devices that can perform search and rescue tasks in disaster environments, it can replace or assist humans to perform rescue tasks in dangerous or harsh environments, improving rescue efficiency and safety. In recent years, the research and development of rescue robots have also made significant progress. This paper reviews some famous rescue robots in the world, emphasizing their structural characteristics and limitations. Then it analyzes the key technologies in the research of rescue robots, such as motion control, sensor technology and localization techniques, are analyzed. Furthermore, a comprehensive review and analysis of pivotal technologies within rescue robotics research, such as motion control, sensor technology, and localization techniques, have been conducted. Finally, prospective outlooks and potential development directions have been proposed in response to the challenges and issues currently faced within the context of rescue robotics. These encompass aspects including multimodality, energy efficiency, intelligent control, as well as human-computer interaction and multi-robot collaboration.
