Recent developments in the rapidly evolving field of automatic recognition have raised issues regarding its security and privacy. The past decade has witnessed a rapid increase in biometrics research in addition to the deployment of large-scale biometrics solutions in both civilian and law enforcement applications. The exponential growth of biometric systems and their rapid adaption lead to a concern that these systems may compromise the security and privacy of individuals. For a particular application, it is a challenging task to choose the best recognition system; a number of core research issues are there which still need to be addressed in this field. This chapter is a detailed study of various issues and challenges in existing biometric systems and also techniques involved in providing solutions to these issues. To ensure the safety and security of human recognition systems, it is advised to modify these systems to create concealable templates through transformation.
