Teaching Online Ethics to Children

In this chapter, the subject of online ethics is explored, with a theoretical perspective provided as a foundation. An essential concept explored within the chapter is empathy, particularly its role in preventing children from engaging in online unethical behavior. Moreover, practical tips and strategies are offered for caregivers to enhance children’s empathy, equipping them with the necessary tools to navigate ethical challenges they may encounter. Key factors that caregivers should pay attention to within the context of educating online ethics are highlighted. These factors include online bullying, responsible information sharing, copyright awareness, and prevention of plagiarism. By addressing these aspects, children can be effectively guided in developing responsible and ethical online activity.
