Vipin Bhati, Ruchika Sharma, Deepti Pandita, Anoop Kumar · 2024

Network pharmacology (NP) is an emerging pioneering approach in the drug discovery process which is used to predict the therapeutic mechanism of compounds using various bioinformatic tools and databases. Emerging studies have indicated the use of network pharmacological approaches in various research fields particularly in the identification of possible mechanisms of herbal compounds/ayurvedic formulations in the management of various diseases. This technique can play a vital role in the prediction of mechanism involved in the drug-induced adverse drug reactions. This chapter includes introduction about NP and signal analysis. Further, it comprises about different network pharmacological approaches. It also includes some studies which have shown the use of network pharmacological approaches for the validation of signal associated with drugs. Finally, the chapter concludes with the current challenges and future prospectives.
