This study investigates the application of technological innovation to improve waste management. The research aimed to develop an automated trash can system equipped with sensors to enhance environmental sustainability. The methodology employed a research and development approach, integrating Arduino Uno microcontroller, HC-SR04 sensor, MQ-135 sensor, and DHT11 sensor. The findings demonstrate that the automated trash can can open and close automatically, controlled by a servo motor, when the HC-SR04 sensor detects an object within a distance ofmore than 40 cm. The MQ-135 sensor effectively detects unpleasant odors, indicated by PPM values exceeding 100, prompting the servo motor to disengage. The DHT11 sensor monitors humidity levels, and when the value exceeds 80%, a buzzer sounds as an alarm. This study showcases the potential of technological innovation to enhance the convenience and environmental sustainability of waste management practices.
