About Scalability and End-to-End Security in Internet of Things: An Overview
Hiba Kandil, Hafssa Benaboud · 2024
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a continually expanding network of advanced nodes that are interconnected through the Internet, with the capacity to transmit and collect data over a network without claiming direct human interaction. As IoT continues to influence our daily lives, the demand for IoT services has recently garnered attention due to its significant business value for organizations. However, IoT also presents several security and privacy issues due to its nature of facilitating interactions with heterogeneous objects anytime and anywhere, which increases security threats. This paper discusses and focuses on two major security issues in IoT systems: Scalability and End-to-End Security. For each of these issues, we present existing solutions and discussions, the challenges they entail, open issues yet to be addressed, and future directions for further improvement.
