The central topic of the monograph Paremiology between Tradition and Innovation is proverbs, which today belong to the field of paremiology. The monograph discusses proverbs from the perspective of folklore, linguistics, ethnolinguistics, semiotics, anthropology and digitization methods. For all these fields, it is the digital humanities that enable researchers to apply new, radically different research methods and, just as importantly, provide electronic collections with advanced search capabilities. Such collections need to be carefully structured to realise their full potential. These are all challenges that the 13 authors of this monograph address in four sections: 1. Digitization of paremiological units, 2. Folklore cross-genres, 3. Ethnolinguistic analysis of paremiological units, 4. Contemporary use of paremiological units and digital resources.
