The Rise of YouTube and Its Influence on Major Aspects of Life in Bangladesh

This chapter aims to explore the impact of YouTube and its content creators on the key aspects of life in Bangladesh. The rise of influencers in Bangladesh through YouTube has increased substantially since the early 2010s, and now large communities, businesses, and organisations have changed to be more inclusive towards them. On the flip side, the influence of the platform has not received a warm welcome in certain communities in Bangladesh due to worries that the platform is harming existing cultural norms and values. This study evaluates whether this trend is detrimental or beneficial in the context of Bangladeshi society.
