Industry State-of-Art and Opportunities For The Use Of Drones In Smart Grids Inspections

This work seeks to provide a clear and updated perspective on strategic drone technologies advancements currently available for power and energy industry experts. Addressed methods of drone use for given tasks include video inspection and fault mapping methods, autonomous drone inspection routes, and thermal imaging. As its main goal, the reader should expect to obtain a clear and straight to the point perspective of the current literature and industry state-of-art. Lastly, this work seeks to corroborate that the use of drones for power line inspections can be more efficient than the traditional methods, when performed correctly.
