The Internet of Things is poised to shape the forthcoming of cyberspace as the whole thing becomes interconnected. According to research, edge computing-based services are expected to play a key role in expanding the cloud by providing intermediate services at the network’s edge. Reduced data dumping to the cloud can speed up response times. Edge computing, however, poses difficulties with safety and confidentiality because of resource constraints. Modern IoT applications can now take advantage of real-time security solutions due to the cloud&s;s extensive resource capabilities. Faster reaction times are achieved by reducing data offloading to the cloud and facilitating service provisioning for mission-critical applications using the distributed foundation of edge computing-based IoT. A comprehensive IoT security framework using edge computing can help address these challenges and ensure the security and privacy of connected devices. This chapter aims to inspire novel edge-based IoT security frameworks while thoroughly reviewing the available edge-based IoT security alternatives. Researchers suggest alternative edge-centric IoT structures and assess the edge-based IoT safety research initiatives in light of security conceptualizations, gateways, verification protocols, multiple-layer frameworks, and secrecy methodologies.
