Utilization of idle computing resources of nearby mobile devices provides opportunity for fast execution of compute-intensive applications in the context of mobile collaborative computing. However, trust and validation of collaboration done by nearby devices are challenging problems. This work proposes a trust and validation mechanism for mobile collaborative computing using blockchain technology called blockchain-based trust and validation mechanism for mobile collaborative computing (BTVMCC). Using Honeybee platform, we performed a prototype implementation of BTVMCC using android mobile devices and Hyperledger Fabric. Accordingly, the results demonstrate that blockchain establishes trust among the mobile devices and maintains history which helps to filter malicious devices which obstruct the performance of the system, thereby enabling the utilization of idle computation resources.
