Disruption, Art, and Sound Research
Ramona Rodríguez-López · 2024
We live in an environment that increasingly depends on technologies, digitization, and connectivity, which has marked a “before and after” distinction in our daily lives. This chapter addresses the research process in my doctoral thesis from a personal perspective. It explores the different phases of the study that try to visualize, through artistic practice, the disruptive effects of mobile devices on the way we perceive the world around us. Firstly, an introduction to the sound context and disruptive sounds is made through prominent authors in research for their ideas from different fields of study. The methodologies used and how the research materializes in artistic proposals, such as electroacoustic compositions for poetic readings in literary spaces or interactive sound installations, are also discussed. Finally, the projects and actions planned after the thesis and imagining the coming years are presented.
