We introduce AcceloPrint, 3D-printed acceleration sensors that can be fabricated in one pass alongside a 3D object and report on its angular orientation or acceleration. AcceloPrint sensors utilize capacitive sensing to track a 3D printed swinging mass inside the 3D-printed frame. Unlike other accelerometers, they can be fully printed without need of any support or brim. Our software converts the measured voltage into acceleration values that can be used for detecting tilt using earth’s gravity or direct acceleration of the sensor. We demonstrate AcceloPrint with an interactive glove that can be used to navigate with 3D CAD design programs like Blender as a 3D mouse using two fully 3D printed AcceloPrint sensors.
