Basics of image analysis and manipulation using Python

A digital image is analyzed and manipulated during image processing with the main objective of improving its quality or acquiring data for later use. Analyzing and manipulating an image with various computer-based algorithms is simply called image processing. It includes a variety of features, including image storage, information extraction, representation, enhancement, and image interpretation, etc. For such types of image tasks, Python becomes an acceptable choice. This chapter provides a fundamental overview of each of these various facets of image processing in addition to a primer on practical image processing using Python packages. Here, all the code samples are written in Python 3. In this chapter different Python libraries are introduced, and Python codes are written to analyze the image using these libraries.
